Just listening to the Sticking Fingers Into Sockets EP and heard that Los Campesinos! – Frontwards sounds very similar to Rilo Kiley’s Portions For Foxes.

Can anyone shed some musical nerdery onto this or is it just coincidence?

Yes that’s right, this Tuesday at 9pm will see the return of BBC MI5 drama Spooks. I am very excited.

The last series was absolutely fantastic, every episode and every subject matter was so spot on with today’s current political climate. It was almost as if the episode had been recorded the previous week rather than the previous year.

Below is the trailer for the latest series, which when I saw it on BBC2 last night, I thought “Hmmm I wonder what the music is for that”. As it so happens I didn’t google to find out but instead forgot about it until just now when I was playing the new UNKLE album War Stories, and realised its a track off that album called ‘Chemistry’. However I do feel somewhat deflated since the comments discussion on the youtube page said that anyway. Well… I found out on my own, honest.

Either way, you may or may not be able to find the track following this link at the Hype Machine which will no doubt reveal a hundred different blogs saying what I’ve just said but several weeks earlier. Ah well.

For any students interested in the media I suggest you take your sweet behinds down to The Political Quarterly section of the Blackwell Synergy website and download Vol. 76 Issue S1 using your Athens user names.

Be sure to check out the introduction by Jean Seaton and articles by Georgina Born and Don Redding, but the whole set of articles is a must-have insight into the current state of the media in the UK.

It gives information on the state of new media and the digital revolution. In turn what effect this will have on democracy and the impact on public service broadcasters like the BBC. There are lots if buzzwords floating about too like ‘User-Generated-Content’ and ‘convergence’. Is the UK suffering from am epidemic of hypercommercialism? What role has declining circulation of the press had to do with it and are we likely to see more in the new multi-channel age.
