With the prospect of 0% if not negative RPI for 2009, we should all be glued to the national office of statistics website to find out the RPI for March 2009. This is when the rate of interest will be chosen for our student loans for the period 2009-2010.
The graph shown is taken from the aforementioned site, and shows RPI in rapid decline over the past 12 months. Technically if the RPI falls to a negative figure then our loans should pay themselves off. That’d be nice eh? Unlikely though, someone with more spare time than I will have to look at the small print.
