MC Andy Fresh and MC Bizmark – Where ya gone?

Hungover? Most of your housemates not around for the weekend? Why not write a song about them, I did.

This was supposed to be a classic guitar anthem to rival Coolio Coolio but after firing up the Mac we were far too tempted by the 80s synthy goodness. So here it is:

And for the die hard amongst you, the lyrics:

This morning when we woke up,
It was to an empty home,
No Gladman and no Lyes,
Not even Simmo.
When I looked outside,
There was so much we could do,
But instead we grabbed our macs,
To rap this song for you.

Gladman, where ya gone?
Simmo, where ya gone?
Lyes, where ya gone?
You left us home alone.

Gladman left on Friday,
He was the first to go,
Jetting off to China,
To see his Haribo.
He hasn’t cooked in ages,
Just take take take,
Maybe when he gets back,
He’ll cook us Hong Kong snake.

Harri, Harri, Harri.

You left early this morning,
Will you come back tonight?
There’s no love any more,
Not even for a pint.
Simmo get a grip,
Get your priorities right,
Why won’t you come home and,
Cook pasta bake tonight.

Katie, Katie, Katie.

The last to leave was Lyes,
he hadn’t forgotten about us,
He’d been to Guanabara,
He was going out on a buzz.
He left without a goodbye
he was surely in a rush,
But he did leave us two things,
And now the bog won’t flush!

Joujie, Joujie, Joujie.

Gladman, where ya gone?
Simmo, where ya gone?
Lyes, where ya gone?
You left us home alone.

Nialler9’s Electric Picnic Mixtape

In a desperate attempt to try and remain in touch with what’s going on in the world of music I subscribe to the Nialler9 podcast. Nialler9 is a top Irish blogger I came across in my Anablogue days and his monthly podcast keep me abreast of what’s happening and entertain me on a Friday’s commute.

Most recently I’ve been enjoying Nialler9’s Electric Picnic Mixtape which you can listen to and download on his blog. So pleased was I with the collection of tunes that I tried to recreate an unmixed version of the tracklisting on Spotify. My Spotify playlist has most of the tracks and most impressively (for Spotify) a lot of the obscure remixes.

My particular highlights from the mixtape are Four Tet feat. Princess Watermelon – Go Go Ninja Dinosaur!, Lykke LiDance Dance Dance (Buraka Som Sistema remix), and a very fat Hervé remix of The Temper Trap’s The Science of Fear.

TV → Google → Spotify

Its times like just now when I really love the internet.

  1. Watched the O2 Cash Manager Advert.
  2. Googled for the advert, first hit gives me visitforinfo.com
  3. Opened Spotify and listened to full track featured on the ad, I’ve Got Your Number by Passion Pit.

30 seconds. Done.

Spotify Mix Sets

Spotify is brilliant.

They recently launched a mobile service which allows premium subscribers to transfer and listen (offline) to music on their Android phone or iPhone. Well worth £10 a month if you regularly listen to music on an iPod or your mobile phone and ad free listening on your PC/Mac.

I will make that move to Spotify’s premium offering at some stage, but not until I think I’m going to get some serious listening done on my iPhone. Until that point I need to maximise my listening and minimise the suitopia adverts for those heads-down times at work – that’s why I’ve started a collaborative playlist of mix sets.

Spotify has millions of tracks online and many of them are continuous gapless mixsets which won’t be interrupted by ads in those times of concentration. So why not load up Spotify and see what you can find and add them to my Spotify Mix Set playlist.

Currently on the list is a 10th anniversary sets from Finger Lickin’ records (Plump DJs, Krafty Kuts) and Daft Punk’s Alive 1997 – the first live album from the Parisian electro duo.

Just another night in Clapham

Police corden off a long length of Clapham High Street southbound in the vicinity of a 24 hour chemist where someone was rumoured to have been stabbed.

This greeted me outside Clapham North station along with a sign advising extra care with mobile phones and personal belongings as youths in the area had been snatching them from peoples hands whilst they were making calls.
